In 1998, Hong and I worked on a project for the International Red Cross / Red Crescent. The project was a study of vulnerability in South Vietnam - along the Mekong - and in the urban areas of Saigon. The photographs were meant to document not only the work they were doing, but also the Vietnamese and those that were living literally on the edge and in the darkest parts of Saigon's back water neighborhoods. It was a part of Saigon that I hadn't seen as close but was all around.
